Austrofoma, one of Europe’s largest outdoor forestry demo fairs, was held in Burgenland in Austria from 8 to 10 October 2019.

The specialist trade fair drew 20.800 regional, domestic and international visitors with its extensive programme of events. Besides visitors from all over Europe, delegations from Japan, China, New Zealand, Russia and South Africa attended the trade fair.

On a trade fair site covering around 100 hectares, around 1.000 pieces of equipment and machinery for timber harvesting were showcased by 150 exhibitors. The expert audience was able to marvel at the latest machinery featuring innovative technology performing real-life tasks before their very eyes. The product demonstrations saw a total of 7.000 solid cubic metres of timber harvested on site and, in some cases, undergo immediate further processing.

PALFINGER EPSILON had a major presence among the exhibitors and visitors were able to see around 25 cranes in action at the trade fair. The Bijol fire service vehicle with a modified PALFINGER EPSILON crane attracted particular attention. On this prototype, the crane was also equipped with a water hose. The water nozzle is fixed above the grab and can put out a fire from this position. At the same time, the grab can be used to remove burnt and fallen trees.

Visitors were able to really get involved at the Kuhn Ladetechnik stand in the Austrofoma village. This was home to a prototype of the Smart Control from PALFINGER EPSILON that could be seen from far and wide.  This boom tip controller makes operating a crane easier, more intuitive and far quicker – child’s play, really. The visitors were able to find out just how good this technology is for themselves on site and take control of the joysticks.

The next Austrofoma will take place in Styria in Austria from 26 to 28 September 2023. PALFINGER EPSILON will be there, of course – represented by Kuhn Ladetechnik once again – and will have some exciting innovations to surprise visitors from the industry.
