Three men, two weeks, one truck – it sounds like the title of an American film. But it is actually a summary of the first Hinz & PALFINGER EPSILON roadshow that toured southern Sweden.

In order to get to know end customers better, Anders Westling, Ulrik Larsson (Hinz Sales team) and Jan Viklund (Hinz Technical Support) spent two weeks of September 2019 touring southern Sweden with their roadshow. Among their luggage was a Scania 730 with an EPSILON M12L97 including an EPSCAB CAE electric cabin and a Hinz trade fair trailer. The trailer was equipped with a widescreen television and a kitchen with a refrigerator and cooker and a fold-out table. At every stop, guests were served coffee, snacks, hot dogs and cold drinks.

Overall, the roadshow took in almost 500 kilometres and six stops. The route was chosen to be as close as possible to end customers. The tour therefore called at saw mills, paper mills and timber terminals. Billboards and posters were put up in advance at the planned stops in order to make as many end customers as possible aware of the roadshow.

The feedback from visitors was very positive. They were delighted to meet the Swedish forest crane team in person and were very interested to see an EPSILON crane up close. With support from Jan Viklund, it was also possible to make some adjustments to the control systems (IQAN) for the visitors right there and then. But the highlight for most visitors was the EPSCAB. Many of them had never seen an EPSCAB or sat in one before. Enthusiasm and demand for the cabin were very high.

‘The first roadshow was a great success and very informative. It was fascinating to meet the end customers as they were going about their everyday work and to find out even more about what they need from a crane,’ said an effervescent Anders Westling. Two further roadshows are already being planned for 2020.

Profile in brief – Anders Westling

Anders joined Hinz AB in August 2018 and is responsible for PALFINGER EPSILON business there. Cranes are a theme that has followed him throughout his whole life. Having grown up on a farm with transport companies, he worked as a crane operator on building sites for a few years before studying marketing. He has now been working in sales in the industrial sector for 25 years. His technical interests combine very well with his work in sales. Since 1974, Hinz – together with PALFINGER – has positioned itself as a leading supplier of cranes to Swedish customers and Anders is proud to work for one of the best manufacturers and the strongest brand in forest cranes.
